SUSTAINABILITY OF AGROECOSYSTEMS IN TROPICAL REGIONS OF MEXICO

Abstract


The objective of the present work was carry out the review the main features outcome of the assessments of sustainability in tropical agroecosystems in states of the south-southeast of Mexico. To do this, were collected studies related to the activities of the agricultural sector, farming and ranching, computing in different sources such as magazines, conferences and books. There were 14 studies whose main features include the concentration of the evaluations in cattle systems dual purpose, protruding the state of Veracruz with the evaluation of five management systems. The most commonly methods used assessment methods are the MESMIS framework and indices of sustainability; the assessed areas usually include the economic, social and environmental; studies are transversal to compare two or more systems in a given period of time and the type of scale regularly assessed is the unit of livestock production. Given that few efforts reported by assessing the sustainability of agroecosystems in the tropical regions of the entities of the south-southeast of Mexico as noted the 14 reviews analyzed in this work.
