PROFITABILITY OF POTATO (Solanum tuberosum L.) CROP IN THE SOUTHWEST OF STATE OF MEXICO

Abstract


With the aim of analyzing the profitability and competitiveness of the potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) in the southwestern region of the State of Mexico, it’s calculated a Matrix of Analysis of Political (MAP) for crop during 2009. Results indicated a positive profitability (0.88) g, the relation of private cost (RPC) was located in 0.27 and the value aggregated within the total income of 0.67. The potato production in the of study, allowed to pay the value of market of the internal factors once the productive activity was profitable in terms of the received prices and paid prices. A factor, unlike previous years, that influenced in the private profitability was the medium rural price which was increased in a 52.0% when happening from 3.40 to 6.50 $ kg-1. The potato production is a profitable alternative for the producers of the region in terms of the generated entrance as long as the conditions of medium favorable rural price by potato kilogram.
