CONTRIBUTIONS FROM FMVZ-UADY TO THE BIOLOGICAL AND AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES: A BRIEF BIBLIOMETRICAL ANALYSIS

Abstract


Background. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics of the Autonomous University of Yucatán (FMVZ-UADY), Mexico, turned 50 years old in 2020. For this reason, the research groups were invited to carry out reviews of their main contributions to biological sciences and agricultural. Objective. To present an overview of the general productivity of the FMVZ-UADY to put in context the review articles from the different research groups to the productivity of the UADY. Methodology. A list of active and retired researchers was generated and a search of publications indexed in Scopus was carried out. Descriptive information obtained from the search results and relationship analysis of keywords, authors and countries of collaboration is presented using the VOSviewer software. Results. The FMVZ's contribution to the productivity of UADY has increased steadily over the years. Articles affiliated with the FMVZ have historically represented at least 30% of UADY's productivity. Implications. In the current context, the consolidation and maintenance of the productivity of the various FMVZ-UADY research groups will depend to a large extent on their ability and success in finding funds for conducting research. Conclusions. The productivity, in the form of scientific papers, of the FMVZ-UADY has increased steadily and represents an important contribution to the productivity of the UADY.
