Pedro M. Villa is as PhD fellow of the organization of American States (OAS) in the department of Biology at Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). He holds an MSc in Tropical Ecology from Universidad de Los Andes (ULA, 2007), and degrees in Agronomic Engineering (2002). He was researcher in the department of Agroforestry at National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA-Amazon). He is founding member and sub director of the Biodiversity Conservation Foundation (PROBIODIVERSA). He coordinates small projects from Global Environment Facility (GEF) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP). His multidisciplinary background in engineering and the ecological sciences has promoted his interest in sustainable food systems as an alternative for management and conservation of tropical forests (REDD +) and food security Livelihoods of indigenous and rural communities.
