Born in Cameroon, Onekon received a BSc. in Political Science and Law from the University of Buea in 2006. Upon graduation, he worked in the non-profit sector, executing environmental development projects. In 2010 he got a Diploma in Environment and Development. Onekon holds a MSc. in Environment and Natural Resource Management from Africa Nazarene University, Nairobi, Kenya. He is currently a researcher in the area of natural resource management.
